NYC Building Status App

Last year, a few of us from FA got together for a couple days and hacked together an MVP prototype for an app concept dubbed "Statt.is" for the 2013 NYC BigApps Competition.

After dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, we were interested in a social tool that would collect & parse data about our neighborhoods, apartment buildings, and workplaces.

Conceived as a fast-loading web application (because your probably not on wifi!), Statt.is allows residents to follow buildings to receive official and crowd-sourced alerts on closings, evacuations, and service outages (electricity, internet, water, heat, etc).

Inspired by the simplicity of the NYC Subway design system, we choose the ever-reliable Helvetica and color coded statuses (Red, Yellow, Grey, Green) to quickly give residents the key info they need with a second's glance.

You can check out our (very rough) prototype of our working web app here.
