ACFB Icons Guidebook

Hello!

One thing I'm loving about Dribbble is seeing others share more behind the scenes work on grid systems, brand books, presentations, etc. Things that as a designer I work with a lot and am always looking to improve my process and design workflow so that I can make better work faster.

So I thought I'd share some key screens for an icon book I designed. I built it in InDesign with a 6 column grid (I often use 12 columns, but I find for a simple book layout, 6 columns helps the design be more consistent).

One other thing I try and do to help myself in layout design is to set up base text and color styles in InDesign so I can quickly change sizes and styles across all pages if I change my mind on something. And I usually do find that I have to tweak things as I go! The primary typeface I used for the guidebook is Object Sans by Pangram Pangram, a fun, geometric sans serif.
