I had a task to help eCommerce website with their conversion rate from the UX point of view.
First impression and trust are very important factors defining whether first-time user will buy or not.
One of the elements that we thought is suspicious was using an American flag as part of the logo.
But during the research I found out the opposite thing: 36% of the people actually mentioned it makes them trust the website. But explained that it's because US-operated business is more trust-worthy to them.
So the solution was to emphasise the fact that it is American-operated but offer more minimalistic variant of the logo.
