The Candy Vanitas

Shitty 2020? Eating away concerns? Weight gain? Anyone? 😁 After a few months, I finally got myself back on track. At least for now ;)

Another classic Vanitas still life in a modern edition - this time the theme is sweets. Cute, right? Yeah, but 💀Memento Mori💀, everyone!

Symbols are:
Sweets and sugar used to have a high price, so they were a sign of luxury and symbolize waste.
Glass tableware was easily accidentally destroyed, which symbolize the impermanence.
The skull symbolizes death and passing.
Flies - devil's companions - being pests, they spoil food and symbolize shortness of life.
Fruits symbolized abundance understood as wealth. But they are not permanent.
