Notice how there isn’t a pickup? In order to explain how this works, I’m afraid we’re going to have to get a bit technical. By using a principle called Lenz's law, which essentially states that the direction of the induced current opposes the initial changing magnetic field. In the context of the electric guitar, it means that not only is the coil getting a current induced through it, but the strings too. It’s a weak signal, but it’s there, which means we can amplify that instead - giving us a more organic and pure tone compared to the traditional pickup.
In the guitar, the electromagnets are mounted on a conveyer belt so they rotate past the strings. Because of this, all the strings become charged and the signal is sent through the bridge to be amplified and generate the sound.
Other features:
• Panel at the back big enough for a 20 U Eurorack module
• Quarter inch jack for interfacing with software and amplifiers
• Tapering neck for increased comfort
• Light, strong and visually appealing; I could get an appealing aesthetic without sacrificing the structural integrity of the piece using generative design
