‘Crest to Icon’ is a personal project to create a simple identifying icon for all twenty football clubs in the English Premier League.

Given the similarities that the official Manchester United badge shares with Manchester City’s—both based on the crest of the city of Manchester—the most distinctive identifying element is the ‘red devil.’ I wanted to find the simplest possible form, hence the trident.

The custom accompanying type follows the proportions of the icon.
