What makes a "Senior Software Engineer"?
This little concept mock-up I made for a potential product at the startup I worked for, Sema.

At Sema, we have rich data about developers on software teams, and this coaching tool would allow managers to set thresholds and goals, then sort the team into these tuneable buckets.
It might be an internal tool to see how your team is stacking up, but it could also be used as a transparent coaching framework to level up the team and take the guess work out of advancement.
