Coronavirus, technology and mental health
A self-led piece made in response to how I felt during the first few months of the Coronavirus pandemic.
INSPIRATION:
I felt that during March-April many people were trying to find ways of representing what was happening to us as the impact of Covid-19 was growing and gworing. At this time it became important for me to minimise time spent on devices, especially looking at the news, and spending less time on social media when it felt too much. I found it hard to find a way to make sense of the uncertainty that I was feeling, but I think finding a way to represent (and acknowledge) the grief and the feeling of destabilisation definitely helped.
METHOD:
The body and swirl of light were made as separate files using black ink and a sponge. These were scanned, and added on top of an image of some scanned marble paper, and the colours were digitally manipulated.
