Under the Sea - Seltzer Pool Mural

I still can't believe it.

I moved to a small rural town from Columbus, Ohio about 5 years ago. It was a rough transition for this big-city boy, but I have grown to love and appreciate this small community. We have been blessed by so many of the people here. So it was the perfect blend of wanting to give back to the community and "dream project" that led me to paint the mural at our city pool pro bono.

When we moved, I remember thinking, "Wouldn't it be cool to create a new mural at the pool?" Every year came and went and I put the idea off. It wasn't until this past summer that I met the man in charge of that decision. We chatted for a bit and it ultimately led to him agreeing to let me create new art and paint a new mural!

This past weekend was the big day(s). Friday night, my friend Dylan Menges came to help transfer the art from a projector onto the wall. This took about an hour and a half and was done so the next day could be more efficient (see attached images). Then from 8 a.m. until about 5 p.m., Dylan, my wife Beth, and myself set up, painted, and cleaned up.

I couldn't be more pleased with the final result and couldn't have done it without their gracious hands that give.

If there's any lesson to be learned here, it's: Ask. You never know when someone might say yes.
