Timer app exploration
Here goes my first shot in over two years…
This is a quick weekend color and flat UI exploration for a streamlined timer app. Inspired by the strict precision of a Swiss watch and the subtle calm of nature's palette.
I did this exercise mostly because my day-to-day leans heavy into UX, User Research, and Design Systems. I've been itching to use a new typeface and color system… and just have fun with it. My plan has been to take the final UX and produce a handful of UI options. This is the foundation of the minimal/flat UI design. While I'm still dialing in the feature set and layout, decoupling UI from UX is a good exercise/reminder to not let your UX lean too heavily into the UI artifacts.
Obviously, a couple of these wouldn't quite pass contrast checks. But that's okay, they're not going to production. Also, I don't plan on doing 16mm edge hangs for 4+ mins per rep. Yikes!
