September 13 - National Peanut Day

September 13 - I was going to make a Dad joke about today being "National Anaphylaxis Awareness Day," but as I was tagging Mr. Peanut, I learned that he died earlier this year. Yes! You read that correctly! Planter's Peanuts has officially killed off their beloved mascot at the ripe old age of 104. They are asking us to pay tribute to him with the hashtag: #RIPeanut.

Mr. Peanut (officially named Bartholomew Richard Fitzgerald-Smythe) accidentally drove his iconic NUTmobile off a cliff during the Super Bowl this year. At his funeral, he was reincarnated (or should I say that he "sprouted") into a Baby Nut (thanks to a single tear from the Kool-Aid Man #NotJoking). Baby Nut has now "blossomed" into a 21-year old legume known as Peanut Jr. Why 21, you ask??? I guess they needed him to trade in his baby bottle for a beer bottle so they could launch their new "Birthday Party Edition" peanuts: the Planters Natural Light Flavored Beer Peanuts!
