The Criterion Hotel

The Criterion is a pub in Carrington, Newcastle Australia, and is a building that's full of history and character. Working with Headjam, we wanted to give it a logo that speaks to a traditional aesthetic.
The unique 'O' character was inspired by an old auction event flyer for the very property the pub was built on, found in the refurbish.

Keeping harmonious with the sharp serifs from the wordmark, I then developed a monogram symbol to represent the pub in a distinctive and iconic way.
