Blinkist

Blinkist is the easiest way to read more and get the essential ideas from great non-fiction books in only fifteen minutes per book. It's basically cliff notes for the digital age.

I joined the growing Blinkist team as lead designer when they only had a rudimentary iOS app. As my first big task, I worked together with the newly formed web team and CPO on transferring the native iPhone app to the web. The goal here was to have an experience that feels at home in the web but still has the familiarity and simplicity of the iPhone app for current users. The design and functionality of the web app was a great success and was featured in numerous media outlets.

Our next challenge was to transfer the iPhone-only app to the iPad, which was perfect for reading while relaxed at home in the evening. We took the same approach as with the web app, but had the chance to innovate some core functionalities like the book cover experience. Again, the whole project shipped on time and was a great success. The app later won awards including Apple's Best of App Store 2014.

With a growing focus on mobile, we then also decided to design a native Android app. It was a pleasure to work with the Blinkist team and we achieved amazing results.
