10 | Lykke Li — so sad so sexy
I must admit that this album was one of the most I expected this year, and definitely the wait didn’t disappoint at all. I’ve been a fan of Lykke Li since the Wounded Rhymes era and today, two records later, I can say that I’ve witnessed the way her sound has matured and has become the jewel that it is now. so sad so sexy I’d dare to say, is one of the productions where Lykke experimented more through different genres and musical influences, and the result has been something totally beautiful. Who would say that the voice of the melancholia queen would sound so good on an instrumental with of trap and hip-hop vibes (yup, Lana is SHAKING), or that within an album different sounds would coexist —some more trippy than others— without compromising the cohesion of the production in general. And it’s cuz the tone of her voice, so dazzling and remarkable, laying on compositions with a high level of solidity make the album do ode to his name: a series of songs with melancholic and sad lyrics that play between sensual and suggestive sounds. Lykke fucking Li has never disappointed me, and with this album she reminded me that again.
