Persephone's Fall for Rule of 3 Productions

A few years ago, I was contracted to design a poster for advertising an upcoming dance production about the story of Persephone and Hades. The show was called "Persephone's Fall." Being a lover of mythology, I immediately bought into the project. I was brought on as creative director for the photography session with the primary dancer (portraying Persephone) and while we tried numerous poses and action photography mid-dance, nothing seemed to quite work until I proposed that we should literally see her struggle to rise into her power.

I paired the final photo from that set with imagery of the pomegranate from the myth looking slick and bloody as a beating heart. It is layered over alternating textures of marbled stone and crumpled paper for that extra Greek classical story vibe.

I did this back in 2013, but it's still a favorite piece of mine I think has aged well.
