Indiana's Government Web Redesign

Redesign Challenge Series — #1 Government Website

So I couldn't stop thinking eversince about formal-governmental website like what could it be? A formal yet less aesthetical design that prefer more usability and accessibility? How could I balance current design trends with that?

My first experimental came to this. It took me a while to search a perfect government website that I could redesign. Indiana State's website actually has such a good design—CTAs and nice color palette.

I started to sort out important functions on their website; search bar, upper navigation bar, news feeds, widgets, etc. I compiled them and put them into different places that preferably looked way more clean and minimalistic to pursue current design trends without neglecting the feels of formal-governmental website.
