Public transport - Multimodal Journey / Trip Planner (De Lijn)

Mobility-as-a-service (aka MAAS) is a trending topic and with good reason. Nowadays traditional forms of public transport aren't always the perfect solution for travelers and there may be better options depending where they are, what time it is and what vehicles they prefer. Technology also evolved to the point where it's increasingly less complex to calculate the best option for that user.

Luckily, I'm working on a consultancy project for De Lijn where I can explore this topic and design a system and interface that incorporates all these different types of mobility options.

Step 1 was easy. "Make sure it also includes the biggest Belgian mobility players besides ourselves. (TEC, MIVB & NMBS)"

That I could do with what we already had, no biggie.

Next up, was the inclusion of shared scooter, bikes (such as Bird & BlueBike) and ridesharing / taxi options (like Uber).

As you can see on the picture, I've made a uniform system of UI cards which can be filled with the relevant data. When availiable, crowdedness will also be displays as well as delays, drivers, location and more.

To really improve the whole experience, we've also redesigned the detail page. More on that will be posted later!

Hope you like it.
