Machine Readable Type | An Archive Project
archive | ˈɑːkʌɪv : a collection of historical documents or records providing information about a place, institution, or group of people.
This is an archive project about machine-readable type. These are some of the typefaces which were created and used before the use of personal computers to help process data through an optical character recognition (OCR) machine. Some of the typefaces required specific machines in order to function whilst others became a standard and therefore it was easier and widely used.
