LinkedIn — Global Search Feedback II (Mobile)
Today I'm sharing a UI mechanism designed to streamline user feedback within LinkedIn's search environment. This design exploration offers members the ability to provide explicit signals on their search results quickly and easily. The interface showcases an action sheet overlay that pops up over the search results on-demand. The kicker? This is not just eye candy; it's functional. Your selection feeds directly into enhancing search result algorithms. A small disclaimer at the bottom reinforces that this is a two-way street—your feedback improves the experience for everyone.
Best practices of using user feedback
To effectively use user feedback (and behavior data) to improve search results, it is important to define clear goals and metrics, collect and analyze the data systematically and ethically, test and validate the results, and learn from the insights. This includes specifying what kind of feedback or behavior you want to collect, measure, and improve, as well as using reliable methods and tools that respect user consent and preferences. Additionally, experiments, evaluations, or feedback loops can help compare the performance and outcomes of different data and results. Finally, the insights gained should be used to refine and improve the search algorithms and the user experience.
