Inspired by a collective commitment to equity and inclusive representation as well as storytelling, De’Ara Balenger and Stacie Gillian created Maestra in 2018 to work with influencers, brands and organizations that are challenging the status quo and changing the trajectory of culture for the better.
They tasked me with created an identity system that spoke to all of their aims as an organization but also brought in something that would highlight the significance of them being 100% female owned and operated. In my conceptual thinking, I constructed a logotype that I felt spoke to their culture as an agency and the work they specialize in. I wanted to stay within a color palette that felt soft and elegant but also strong and purposeful while creating a system around it that would allow it to thrive with or without a a set image tone. At the end, they we’re very happy with my work and have integrated them into the work they’ve been doing moving forward.
