The topography of touch - Editorial/Experiential
An investigation into tactility, the topography of touch dives into what drives our curiosity to reach out and touch.
In the editorial component I cover a journey, beginning understanding the theories behind haptics and active touch, and following through by testing many materials, shapes and forms in order to create a range of irresistable items (touch maps) that entice and reward users for picking them up.
The plinth provides a call to action, displaying the products of my research and encouraging users to choose an object to guide them.
Together these parts create a multisensory experience, the book providing context to the objects, and the objects ground that context in reality, allowing you to test those ideas yourself.
