Douanier is a French woven jacquard cushion cover. The artwork is an extract from Henri Rousseau's The Dream (1910). This piece is companion to #5427 Nenuphar. This design is awash with the rich colors and textures of the tropical forest. Rousseau (1844 - 1910) came to be recognized as a self-taught genius whose works exerted an extensive influence on several generations of avant-garde artists.
