Log In - Tips & Tricks

At Stepwise, we make a lot of applications and therefore we also make a lot of log in / sign up screens.

That's why today, we decided to share a shot of a login screen of a travel application we redesigned some time ago. In addition, here are some tips & tricks on how to improve your login screens:

1. People don't like to sign up to anything, that's why it's important to communicate the value of signing up. This can be done by using a short and clear message like you see on our design. This is also important on the log in page as a user might land on the page by mistake.

2. Use icons in the input fields so that the user recognises what he/she has to fill in. Images are processed faster!

3. Provide a 'Keep me logged in' checkbox to save the user's time logging in again.

4. Allow social logins, this will help the user not think of a new password.

5. Provide a 'Sign up' section on the login page in case the user has landed on the page by mistake.
