Hinge App Redesign

I participated in a 9-week product design mentorship during my free time last fall because I was looking to build on my interaction and visual design skills.

I redesigned the Hinge Dating App resulting in increased user engagement and confidence, measured through qualitative and quantitative usability testing data.

I found that users enter the app with the intention of making meaningful connections but are limited to make a first impression through one of two actions — liking a user’s photo or commenting on the spot. I explored different solution spaces and designed the interaction for a time-sensitive bookmarking feature that would buy the user enough time to formulate a thoughtful message.
