Brave Browser Speedreader

Brave Browser blocks trackers and ads and provides a new way to support content creators. The browser is built on Chromium but retains its own flair for typical browser features.

One "typical" browser feature that Brave Browser has improved upon is the reader view. Brave has made the reader view even faster and more performant by allowing it to be enabled as a "Speedreader" mode even before an article page is shown. Once enabled, Brave will detect if an article page is being requested and render the article in reader view without loading all of the other unnecessary data that accompanies a page - as a result the page can load much faster and with better performance. This is different from a typical browser's reader view, which will render all data on a page then strip out elements to display a reader view.

This is a rapid prototype made in Figma showing the different interaction states of the Speedreader icon button, some introductory language, and a feedback mechanism to help the product team keep improving the feature.
