Self Portrait: 2020
I've been spending the year freelancing really trying to hone in on my goals. I spent so much of my career working as an employee, I never really got a chance to *REALLY* ask myself these questions:
1. What kind of Illustration do you want to make?
2. Where or how you would like your work to be used?
3. Who are your dream clients?
(Questions I found reading an article by @mrtomfroese , 10 Ways to Develop Your Illustration Style on @dribbble)
I have always come up with the generic answer of who my dream clients would be, but the answer I wrote down a week ago is very different than what I always thought it my head. This truly propelled me to rethink and refocus.
His article has inspired me to commit myself (during my personal time and down time) to create illustration portfolio that is the most true to myself. I know we are 5 months away from closing 2020 out and what a year it has been! I want to encourage anyone struggling to find directions to be kind to yourself, and to listen to your heart and soul.
A line I really enjoyed from Tom Froese' article I was referring above: "In the same way that a seismograph records movements of the earth beneath our feet, drawings chart out the movements of our souls. When we draw, our hand, head, and heart are all connected, and this is visualized in the qualities of our art."
