The Maneki-neko (招き猫, lit. 'beckoning cat') is a common Japanese cat figurine which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. They are also referred as "lucky cats."
There are many different variations of the cat and the all-white Maneki Neko is supposed to bring its owner happiness and purity. The cats are also traditionally depicted seated, holding a Koban coin (represents wealth brought to the owner), with one paw raised in a beckoning gesture. The word I added on the koban coin means "good fortune/good luck/fortunate/blessing/happiness" in Chinese.
