Victory over the Sun

Back to 2018. Exploring the art of performance, I discovered the «Victory over the Sun» — a Russian Futurist opera premiered in 1913 at the Luna Park in Saint Petersburg. Most of all I was attracted by sketches of scenery made by Kazimir Malevich. The opera has become famous as the event where Malevich made his first "Black Square" painting (in 1915).

The characters and sketches of their costumes (drawn by Malevich) inspired me to create this avant-garde abstract and colourful series.
