Football Now iOS app

My first shot on Dribbble - woohoo! Huge thanks to Scott Lyttle for the invite.

Here are a couple of designs for ESPN Australia's Football Now app. The version on the left if live in the app store now. On the left, I updated the UI based on feedback from Apple, which in a nutshell was to more strongly adopt iOS7 UI conventions.

They suggested making the background of the toolbar section a less distracting colour. I understand the logic but for me the contrast between toolbar and content makes the different parts of the UI more easily distinguishable. This is particularly noticeable when there's an actual ad instead of a placeholder.

NOTE: There are AFL teams even though this is an A-League app.
