The La La's
The La La’s are an Ashlee Simpson cover band, based in NYC.
Ashlee Simpson may be best known as Jessica Simpson’s little sister, but she is oh, so much more than that. As an American singer, songwriter, and actress, Ashlee began her career at 15, starring in commercials and backup dancing for Jessica. She released her debut single in 2004, and the American pop scene was never the same.
“Pieces of Me” became a top-five hit on the Billboard Top 100 chart; Ashlee was sure to rise to pop stardom. On October 24, 2004, Ashlee was set to perform her new hit single on Saturday Night Live. When she was about to sing her second song, the backing vocals for her first song, “Pieces of Me,” began to play again. While waiting for her band to get their shit together, Ashlee did a little jig. Unfortunately, it was too late. It was the jig seen around the world, and widespread media outlets were quick to accuse her of being a fraud. "Lip Sync-gate” doomed her career as a solo pop star from there on out.
This cover band is a tribute to the stunted pop-stardom of the great Ashlee Simpson: Her edginess, signature whine and wail, and go get ‘em girl-power deserve to be immortalized.
Ashlee, this is for you… we will always L-O-V-E you.
