Stay Hydrated or Die Trying

I originally created these characters for a coffee shop branding project, but thought they lent themselves well to this challenge. I researched & sketched a lot of 1930's inspired characters until I settled on the devil angel archetype. I vectorized them in Illustrator and along with adding the text. I like a little dark humor, so the copy became "Stay hydrated or die trying," which all coffee addicts can understand. The final step was importing them into Procreate with this gorgeous photo from Melanie Wupperman. I changed the photos color a little, added texture and dimension, and viola! A reminder to (mostly) myself to drink more water.
