No Regrets

Key art for a middle school series about wisdom and temptation. The first frame is the final illustration. The second frame was an earlier direction that I also wanted to share.

I don't do much illustration, but I was really pleased with how the dove and snake turned out. Despite its connection to the scripture being referenced (Matthew 10:16), there were some concerns about unintentional connotations that could arise. Ultimately we decided not to use it.

You'll see in the third frame how I attempted to make a more subtle use of those illustrations by incorporating them as corner elements. It got a little busy, but I kinda liked it.

Overall, I really enjoyed working in this style. It was challenging to create a composition that felt fairly organic while constraining the individual elements to certain geometric rules.
