Gallery Animation

Hey folks!

While working on a website design, I was exploring new possiblities and solutions and came across a simple gallery I haven't really seen yet on the wwweb.
I'm not a fan of pop-up screens, they drive me crazy... so I though I would just hover the gallery with the picture. I see two possiblities here:
1) Every picture is a project and has multiple pictures inside and 2) There are only as many pictures as in the visible portfolio. And yeah, I didn't
really talk to a developer yet, so I'm curious how this can be implemented.

This is basically made on 12 col grid with 8 blocks (1170px wide) but adjusted for dribbble. Made with AfterEffects. Pictures taken from unsplash.com .
