ABC Design System

Over 10 million people visit the ABC every month. The ABC News team alone creates over 60,000 news pages each year. With the expectations of its users demanding more content and informative reporting faster than ever, the ABC had reached a critical point of change.

I was engaged by the ABC to deliver a design system that unified their properties under a single visual language. This opened up opportunities to audit existing experiences, consolidate for alignment and create new experiences that delight.

The OneABC design system needed the versatility to support audio, video, and text-based mediums while maintaining enough flexibility to deliver bespoke content that delighted its audiences. All while ensuring it had the flexibility to scale for new products and experiences in the ABC pipeline.

The challenge – create a design system and vision for the ABC that connects its properties, facilitates cross-usage of its products and establishes durable value in an ever-changing digital landscape.
