The M1911 (45 pistol) was a.45 ACP semi-automatic pistol produced in 1911. Designed by American John Browning, it became the standard pistol of the US Army immediately after its introduction and remained so for 74 years (1911 to 1985). M1911 was once a common battlefield weapon for the U.S. military, enduring World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War.
