My state of UX

With the travel industry in which I am employed fulling acknowledging the gravity of the corona pandemic, I find myself zooming out and taking stock of the state of UX at my company.

Last night, my PO and I stayed up late fleshing out complex scenarios for two datepickers which can either be enabled or disabled and which make up a date range.

During refinement today, the idea was swept off the table within minutes, both by business and our developers. 'We just need to ship this, so let's just forget about error prevention for now. But Zinzy please make sure we improve on this later.'

Five years ago I would have considered this a huge defeat: my darling, killed without much trouble. Today, however, I was so pleased to hear our most senior business stakeholder tell me this was mine to keep track of.

Things have sure changed since I joined the company as its first designer. Knowing I've contributed to this makes me immensely proud.
