Superior Hiking Trail

A conceptual mark for the Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota which runs from the base point of Lake Superior to Canada.

While hiking the trail I noticed that the current logo (which marks certain points on the trail) was hard to see, small and too detailed. I created a bold mark that is very visible on signage. It could easily move from badge on a baseball hat to a mobile app for the trail as well as printed material. A flexible mark.

It's abstract and doesn't necessarily resemble nature or the beautiful lake in a literal sense but it can be seen in many ways: a compass, northward, direction, a tree, paths, a tent, a body of water.
