Merrow (Fairy and Folk Tales of the Irish Peasantry)

From my project based on the W. B. Yeats book ‘Fairy and Folk Tales of the Irish Peasantry’, this illustration is inspired by the story ‘Flory Cantillon’s Funeral’.

The tale tells of merrow (mermaid-like creatures) who pull a deceased man of merrow ancestry into the sea, to be laid to rest in the family tomb.
