Script Script
Had the great pleasure of attending a workshop yesterday here in Pittsburgh with the incomparable Ken Barber. Big thanks to him and AIGA Pittsburgh for making this happen.
Being self-taught, it's hard to know if you're really doing things right, or at least the smartest way you could be, so I was really looking forward to seeing if there might be some things I was missing that might help me improve.
My main takeaways were that, 1) I was actually very much on the right track and doing basically all of the same things Ken does when working through concepts, and 2) I need to spend more time studying and learning the details and intricacies of classic, formal script typefaces. It's very apparent that Ken's deep knowledge of type guides and assists the decisions he makes when drawing these forms. I kinda skipped that part. :)
Big guy attached.
