'No Longer Human' by Osamu Dazai – Cover Concept

Osamu Dazai’s dark and intense novel No Longer Human is an incredible read that deals with the struggles of fitting in, abuse, self-destruction, and mental health. Published in 1948, the novel still stands up to the test of time and I’ve found it to be immensely relatable to our current situation.

For the cover of the book, I wanted to express the feeling of Ōba Yōzō, the protagonist of the story, and his inability to reveal his true self. That there is this deep, dark energy that pervades his body and you, the reader, are seeing it come to the surface.
