I definitely learned the habits of problem solving and self-teaching from video games. Especially when a select number of video games just give you a set of controls and say, "Now play until you figure it out!" It's important to learn how to problem solve whether in design, video games, or just the real world in general. It took me a while to figure out this particular quirk and apply it as an attribute, but it was well worth it.
