Marsha P. Johnson

"How many years does it take people to see that we're all brothers and sisters and human beings in the same human race? We're all in this rat race together?"
- Marsha P. Johnson

A black transgender drag queen, Marsha P. Johnson (the P stands for “Pay it No Mind”) was influential during the Stonewall Inn riots of 1969. She was an activist for the black and queer communities in addition to advocating for those living with HIV/AIDS. As we continue to fight for black lives, please remember that ALL black lives matter and that you cannot just fight for cis/straight black lives. 🏳️‍🌈

If you have time this week, I highly recommend watching the documentary “Paris is Burning” which chronicles BIPOC queer culture isn’t the 1980s.
