Stranger In A Strange Land - Book cover illustration

Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein is one of my favorite novels. I loved the process of this project from start to finish. How do you capture and entire story in one scene / frame. Enough to tell people about the story or at least give a feeling of what themes are being explored within the covers.

I wanted to portray Valentine Michael Smith submerged in water because in the story that’s where he goes to read up on and study Earth culture. It is the closest thing to solitude for a character whose story becomes quite hectic rather quickly.
