The Power of Sound

I'm super excited to be the one to share this with you guys!

In December 2019, around Christmas, we had our first internal Hackathon at Zajno.
The idea was to finish the year with a special event that would bring us together as a team, make us try something new, build our skills, and reveal new talents.
Spoiler: it was an incredible experience that exceeded all our expectations and here is the result:

This is a website-game-experience about the importance of green energy and its power to change – and save – our world. In the experience we explore new sources of alternative energy – namely sound energy – and imagine a future where entire cities will be powered by it!

We chose to use sound energy as an example because:
a) Though not yet commercially operational, sound energy is under development – and could yet turn out to be a revolutionary energy source.
b) Sound and speech recognition – in fact, any sort of interaction with computers’ mics – have long been an area of our interest, so it was a nice opportunity to work and experiment with this kind of technology.
c) Sound energy has also a metaphorical aspect. Using our voices to generate power is an analogy for raising one’s voice to generate awareness of the climate emergency. Activists like Greta Thurnburg have changed the global agenda by speaking up – maybe we could do a little of the same.

We're going to publish an article very soon to give a full account of the story and tell how an idea to had an internal hackathon unraveled our studio's superpowers and became a landmark event.
