The Society of Fugitivese

I'd made this illustration earlier in the year after reading an article titled “The Society of Fugitives” from the Atlantic about the militarization of the police in poor black neighborhoods. The Illustration I had looked at in the article had the police officer in the background and a poor suspect large in the foreground. I thought it might be an interesting take to reverse this and make the officer large to demonstrate the effect of this increased militarized police presence through metaphor and exaggeration.
