Wu-Tang x Matisse

This drawing was made as part of my « Iconic crews » series. I always felt that friendship was a huge thing in Hip-Hop and that’s something I wanted to explore. I feel like building something as friends is what help us raise as a culture. The Wu-Tang, the Asap mob, odd future, all of those crews were extremely disruptive when they came out.

Another side of this is that I love modern art and I wanted to my the painters that inspired me (Matisse, Basquiat, Delaunay, Haring…). Sometimes I feel like Hip-Hop is not considered as “real culture” by the people/media. I wanted to merge both and show them on equal footing.
