Tartarus station - Book cover illustration

I love doing book covers! For this project I wanted to really bring my style into it with those thickly laid on pencils to create a simple and recognizable shape / scene. In this case, a person descending the stairs of a subway station with the light behind him.

It can be seen as a challenge of sorts, get as many telling aspects of the 'scene' in there with using as little shapes and stroke details as you can.

I love how the use of negative space to portray the figure turned out.
