THE WAITING GAME
7th March

Looking at the previous GIF, the thing that really struck me was how a sense of indecision can breed anxiety. The moment between two states – between a definitive yes and no – is a period of angst in the ‘journey’ of decision-making.
Whether you have control over the decision in question is sometimes redundant to the feeling of worry, and your ability to control it. That’s why I chose a pregnancy test for my GIF; the test itself doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t make a decision: it’s not causal. If you didn’t take it, you wouldn’t not be pregnant, you simply wouldn’t know. Yet it encapsulates this sense of anxiety we feel between knowing the outcome of something and not; it’s a poster-child for the uncertain, and the fear of it.
