I Can't Breathe, Please

“I can’t breathe. Please...” I know this simple piece of illustration isn’t going to bring back George Floyd’s life or bring comfort to his family and our African-American brothers and sisters out there and the oppressed. As I’ve heard being non-racist is not enough, we must be anti-racist. We have to speak up with our voices, and designing is the voice I know best to speak with. I’m not black, I’m a minority and seeing Mr. Floyd senselessly die on the knees of a person who’s supposed to protect and serve makes me angry and heartbroken for a man I don’t even know.
