NOLATechWeek

New Orleans is having their first ever community driven and planned city wide tech fest. It's gonna be a week long, 10/7/2013 - 10/12/2013.
More to be announced soon, if you're interested follow @NOLATechWeek on twitter.

Behind the logo:
The brief required three things:
- Be square or rectangularish, for easy placement in the corners of posters.
- Along the same lines, be one color friendly and easy to read/recognize at small sizes
- be iconic and representative of New Orleans.

The last request was naturally the most challenging. There are so many well recognized symbols of this city (Fleur de Lis, Crescents, Crawfish, etc.) Gaslamps are often used to represent the French Quarter, but I found that NOLA was one of the first cities in the country to be outfitted with municipal lighting....technology. For a tech festival, that seemed perfect. The pixelation came when I was iterating, and it was one of those great moments when everything just 'clicks'.

Any feedback/criticism much appreciated. Also go check out the event, I'd love to see you there.
